    International Volleyball in San Juan

    May 11, 2009

San Juan hosted another fantastic volleyball exhibition game last Friday, May 8th.  This time the Nicaraguan National Women’s team was victorious against the University of West Florida Women’s team.  The game was held at the Sports Park and was great Friday night entertainment to a good crowd of sports fans.

    Mexico’s Loss – San Juan’s Gain

    May 11, 2009

A number of Cruise Ships have been avoiding Mexican ports since the Flu outbreak and some of them have chosen to make last minute stops in San Juan del Sur, instead.  A Holland America Cruise Ship, the MS Zuiderdam stopped in on April 30 and The Coral Princess was in harbour on May 2.  With the Island Princess here on a scheduled stop on May 1, San Juan was hopping for 3 days with ship passengers.

    New Bakery in Town

    May 11, 2009

Panaderia Don Marcos opened last week in the long vacant building kitty-corner from the Parque Central (the one with the fantastic mural by Maureen Adams).  Don Marcos is based out of Rivas and offers Nica style bread and baked goods; as well as some favourites that North Americans will recognize.  Rumour has it they have cheese danishes and whole wheat bread!
