Halloween in San Juan del Sur

SJdS throws a party (or a bunch of parties) on Halloween (October 31).  Here’s a selection of the parties currently being planned:

The Pier is calling their party “Rise to the Occasion” Halloween Hoopla and Police Benefit and is advertising a “Funky Vibe, Groovy Times…while also hoping to help improve safety in San Juan!  The Pier is promising dozens of prizes donated by local sponsors.

 

Coquito Bar is honouring zombies at their Halloween party this year.  While all types of ghouls, ghosts and witches are invited, they are taking this oportunity to honour zombies in particular.  Those dressed as zombies, will receive a free shot (of brain juice I assume).  There will also be a zombie dance competition to “THRILLER”.  The party also feature’s Coquito’s  notorious adult pinata and live music by DON BIGOTE Y LOS ZOMBIECITOS.

 

 

 

 

Many costumed partiers are likely to start their evening at Halloween Happy Hour on Haunted Hill up at Piedras y Olas, La Cascada Bar.  This annual party is one of the biggest and best that this popular spot hosts all year.  Starting at 6pm, they are promising  2×1 on all drinks and potions, devilishly delicious appetizers. and prizes for costumes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bambu Beach Club is holding a unique Halloween party they are calling Party like a Rockstar.  Getting started at 8pm they are challenging all to come dressed as their favourite rock star.  A highlight of the evening will no doubt be the “Guitar Hero Wii Tournament” with prizes for the finalists and for best costumes.

This Week’s Events – October

It is October holiday for San Juan del Sur.  Many tourist related businesses take a break and lots of places are closed, especially for the last 2 weeks.  Most of the regular social events (Happy Hours etc.) continue… but very few special events are planned.  Therefore this week’s calendar will apply for the rest of the month.

However, stay tuned for lists of Halloween Parties… San Juan will wake up again to celebrate Halloween on the 31st; All Saints Day on Nov 1st and Day of the Dead on Nov 2nd.

Clara Grun Live at Bambu Beach

Clara Grun plays Bambu Beach this weekend.

Bambu Beach is celebrating the holiday weekend with a special live concert with popular Nicaraguan singer songwriter, Clara Grun this Sunday, September 13th.  DJ Revualta Sonora will begin the evening at 9pm, followed by Clara Grun and Sala Bipolar.  Get there early or make a reservation as space is limited.  If the last time Ms Grun performed at Bambu Beach is any indication; don’t expect the artist to make an appearance until close to midnight!

Coquitos does Dias Patrios

Coquitos Celebrates las Dias Patrios

This holiday weekend in Nicaragua celebrates national independence and is known locally as Dias Patrios.  Coquitos Bar is doing it up right with live music all weekend.  On Friday they have LAS 5 ESTRELLAS and the best in rock, salsa, cumbia etc..not to mention Victoria Frost at 15 cords and Tona and Victoria for 20 cords.  Saturday is not to be missed with the triumphant return of OSBERTO JEREZ Y LOS GREGORIES and thier excellent Nicaraguan reggae.  Sunday is family day with their first ever Sand Castle competitions offering prizes for adults and children, soup specials and suave music in the evening with DUO CAFE CON LECHE.  Monday they celebrate the victory at the Battle of San Jacinto in style with San Juan’s best band DON BIGOTE Y LOS POBRECITOS.
